Rho Gams in vests look like Girl Scouts ;)

Cheerio 08-13-2023 02:56 PM

In the photos, some women appear to have their hands/arms intentionally positioned behind their back. To what purpose? Are these initiated sorority members, and when speaking during recruitment with PNMs is this their necessary action? If so, I never knew formal recruitment also takes place out-of-doors.

In the super ancient Iowa sorority documentary, I did see the actives with their arms behind their backs. Maybe it was instructed by their chapters to do that?

And the rho gamma vests are a super cute tradition at UGA. I love how they're customized!

How odd. You can restrain yourself from touching another person without having to hold your hands behind your back.

Cookiez17 08-13-2023 03:49 PM

Yeah I get the touching rule, but we were instructed to just keep our arms by our sides and look natural. Even leading the PNMs in, you would just put an arm out and not directly touch them.

Do we have any updates on number of registered girls, estimated quota, etc.?

Cookiez17 08-13-2023 04:19 PM

The PNM # hasn't been posted. Depending on the school, that info can be kept private while some schools will mention it.

Bid Day is this Sunday, Alpha Xi Delta's bid day is Aug 31.

The only number I've seen is from the campus newspaper the Red and Black. Their recent article said it was an estimated 2000 women going through rush.

I love the vests too!

I went to another SEC school where parents (mainly greek alums) that lived close enough came to bid day. I know it’s chaotic, so it’s mainly pictures from afar, but is that the case at UGA too? I don’t want to not go and miss out, but also don’t want us to be the only parents out there. Help :)

The bid day celebrations are the sisters and new members at the chapter houses. The new members are bussed to the chapter houses via campus busses. Parents are not a part of bid day celebrations.

There will be plenty of photos taken. There is usually a professional photographer or two working their way up and down the street, plus the actives will take plenty of photos, as will The Red and Black.
