Miss Hospitality Mississippi 2021

The newly crowned Miss Hospitality Mississippi 2021 is a Kappa (Delta Rho chapter)!

I haven't heard of that contest! What do they do? :)

FSUZeta 07-18-2021 07:03 PM

They are gracious and hospitable to everyone.

carnation, Miss Hospitality promotes tourism and economic development of the state. She is a good will ambassador for the state. I don't know if other states have a Miss Hospitality though.

What an interesting basis for a contest, especially in this day and age. How long have they crowned a winner, and what organization sponsors the contest?

Coincidentally, your Kappa member being this year's winner reminds me the 1960's Hospitality Badge in Junior Girl Scouts had a crossed golden keys design.

It was established in 1949 by the Governor and the Mississippi Legislature. There are sponsors, but I'm not sure where the scholarship $$ comes from.

My cousin, a Pi Phi at Alabama, was the Chilton County (AL) Peach Queen. Another was the Louisiana Fur and Wildlife Queen (Cameron, LA). All promote that industry within the state and nationally (my Pi Phi cousin went to Washington and gave a basket of Chilton County peaches to the President)

Will she be able to compete in the Miss Mississippi pageant?

Miss Hospitality is its own pageant and doesn't feed into the Miss Mississippi pageant. However, this young lady was Miss Mississippi Most Outstanding Teen (I think that's the name! She reigned for 2 years since there was not a pageant last year because of COVID-19. She did well in the national competition, but I can't remember where she placed. I'm pretty sure she made the Top 10 at least, but this old brain can be forgetful at times!). Her mom was a year behind me at Ole Miss, and I have kept up with her and her family.

Mississippi gals do love those beauty, er, scholarship pageants!;)

This same young lady is now Miss University 2024!
