Suggestions for preparation?
I'm a senior in high school, and I'm going to attend Ole Miss next year in the fall and, of course, go through recruitment. I have a 4.0 GPA and intend on being one of the top three of my class.
I've read many posts about Ole Miss, but is there anything I should begin doing to prepare now?
I don't know many girls in sororities because, from the small school/town I come from, not many attempt it. I do, however, know a few from Southern Miss, but when I spoke with them, they said Ole Miss recruitment is completely different from theirs.
Do you have any suggestions on what I should do this year to prepare for recruitment next year? Thank you so much.

From what I know about Ole Miss, you need to make sure you have recs for every chapter. Though IIRC, you might already be pushing too late for that. Any ladies want to expand?

*lane swerve b/c I am NOT from Ole Miss* but clarifying that you are planning ahead for a FALL 2011 Recruitment, correct?
Now I'll step back and let those in the know assist you.

I'm guessing from her "senior pictures" thread she's headed into senior year this fall and will graduate HS in 2011.
My biggest advice: Enjoy your senior year, get excellent grades and make sure you're staying involved in clubs/sports/etc.
Many of the girls rushing at Ole Miss will have stellar grades and 4 years worth of involvement in clubs and sports.

Sorry for not clarifying. Yes, I'm graduating high school in May of 2011 and will then attend Ole Miss in the fall.
I'm an overachiever and figured I would know now what I have to do this year.
Sorry about the confusion.
Thank you for your suggestions.

There are only 9 groups at Ole Miss but you will need at least one, if not 2, recs for each. I dare say they all have an alum somewhere near you! MS is just that way....

she is a rising senior in h.s., so she is not too late.
you may want to begin locating women who can write recs. for you next year.

Someone please let me know if I'm unaware of some admissions policy, but don't you, you know, need to get into Ole Miss first - and then worry about recruitment?

It wasn't clear in the first post. Also like Gusteau said, she still needs to get into Ole Miss.

Yeaaahhh, but as long as she doesn't tank her senior year, she should have no problem getting into Ole Miss given her current stats.

Keep your Facebook page squeaky clean. It may be too early to really worry about any older girls Facebook "stalking" you, but it WILL go on later. So, be aware as you post pics this year and as you let others tag pics of you. Facebook can come back to haunt you.

AMEN. If it happens with fraternities at a small Northern school like mine, you better believe they're (GLO's) doing it down South at the huge universities.
Even here, I've seen it make or break people.
