IFC Judicial Board
hey, i just wanted to let everyone know that i was selected as the "number 1 alternate" to the sdsu ifc judicial board. i didtn think i would have much influence, but it turns out that i do. i didnt know how powerful the j-board can be. i'm stoked to be able to make decisions and be given so much responsibility. has anyone else been on a judicial board before?

I have been elected to the judicial board twice , once aa a alternative. It's a great privilege. I really learn about how the fraternity judicial laws worked. It gave me a better appreciation of how the by-laws work.

Do you really have that much power?
I remember reading a story about a fraternity at one school that was in a little trouble. The case had gone before the IFC Judicial Review board and they were voting on the appropriate punishment. Not one of the other fraternities voted to kick this particular fraternity out of IFC but the school gave them the boot anyway. Doesn't the IFC board make simply recommendations while the final decision is made by the school?

As far as I know, our IFC judicial board has never been called on to do anything. Complaints are either too inane for it (fighting between members of two houses) or too serious (hazing charges). And it has no power anyway- the Dean of Students makes the final decisions.

the way it works is if the greek life advisor gives a punishment, the fraternity can opeal it, and it will go to the j-board, and we can make it harsher, or wharever.
