weddings are the biggest friendship breakers. my bestfriend of 15 yrs is now merely an aquaintance b/c of the shit she pulled with her wedding. it took us nearly a year to even speak to each other.

anyhow, my general fun times and complaints would be same shit different day. i'm still working at petland pet store and actually liking it alot. how many people can say that about their job? i'm sort of dating/friends with benefits with this guy who used to work at the store. definately not husband material, but lots of fun while i find the right one. we're actually getting ready to go down to florida for a few days. we want to catch a bunch of stuff from the ocean to put in our saltwater aquariums. only the legal stuff though!
really fun news, i've become an aunt to the most beautiful baby boy in the whole world. (and no i'm not just being biased)
his name is cole mcclain johnson, was born may 16 at 9:24 pm, weighed 7.6lbs and 20.5" long. he's a very cool baby. i finally got to go up and see him when he was 10days old.

anyhow, i thinks that's it for me for now.

Awww...CONGRATULATIONS! Babies are the best! I love the name Cole.

On another note, I went with my bridesmaids to pick out their dresses & I figured out that 3 of the 4 ladies are wearing size 2 & 4 dresses while I'm in a size 18 dress. *scratches head* I hate the fact that wedding dresses are made so much smaller than regular sizes. I'm a size 11 normally but had to buy a size 18! What is up with that?

One of my best friends in college was about 4'11" and a size 14 in girls to a size 1 in juniors and completely flat-chested, and she had to get a size 8 wedding dress. Go figure!

They do that so they can charge you more. The bigger the dress size the more it costs. When we ordered our bridesmaids gowns for my sister's wedding they charged you more for anything over certain sizes (like a size 10 cost more than a size 8 & a size 20 cost more than a size 18, etc.)

And they dont ACTUALLY fit anyone so that they can charge you more to talor it.

I am so excited for this weekend!! My dad and step-mom are flying in tonight from St. louis, we are going to galveston tomorrow (fresh shrimp!!), are having an engagement party saturday and going to the Astros game on Sunday!

Let me just say how tired I am of cleaning! We have been cleaning for this weekend for over a week. To all you new home owners, never neglect your house when you are working on other projects! We were so busy working in the yard that before we knew it our house was taken over by junk mail and laundry!

I myself am the recipient of student loans so I have a good idea of how they work. I don't know if every school is different though b/c at Long Beach, the funds aren't given to you until 10 days prior to the start of the semester but fees are generally due months before that. What happens is that if you qualify for financial aid, they have what is called "anticipated aid" and your classes aren't dropped b/c the school is aware of the fact that your money will be in. Once your financial aid is actually disbursed, the school receives the money directly & at that point, they take the money you owe them for the semester & then they cut you a check for the remainder of the money.
Also remember that depending on the school, not all of of them give you all the money up front. Here at Long Beach, you receive a set amount per semester. Last year I received $12,000 in loans & grants. This gave me $6,000 for fall semester & $6,000 for spring semester. The school then took the fees I owed for tuition & gave me a check for $3,000 a week before school started. Then I got the remaining amount which I believe was $900 two months after school started. This ensures the school that you are attending school b/c if you get your money & then drop out, the school is screwed & then goes after you to pay them back.

I hope this wasn't too confusing b/c it can definitely be overwhelming.

Why does bad stuff happen? My brother & brother-in-law were carjacked this afternoon. They are fine but it's weird hearing these stories about other people & now it happens to a member of my family.

the store i work for was just sold and i was cut in the transition.

my eyes are extremely swollen from crying half the night last night after i found out. but have no fear, i already have a job interview set up for tomorrow and a few other things in the works.

My friend's son died earlier this week. He drowned in a wave pool at a water park. He was about 10 years old. I'm in shock.

Ladies, check out your latest issue of the Sigma Kappa Triangle. I'm in it! YAY! If you look on page 21, I'm the girl on the floor on the first row that has her leg bent & I have that flirty pose and am wearing sandals. I'm smack dab in the middle. The Asian girl next to me is my former house roommate. She's still my bestest Sigma Kappa friend ever! On the last row is a blonde wearing a ball cap. She's my big sis & the current chapter President. YAY!

EDIT: It's the last pic on page 21. CSULB Gamma Theta Chapter.

Also, on page 28, there is another pic of two of my Gamma Theta sisters. On the bottom pic, they are all alums. The two sitting down are our last year President & Executive Vice President. I miss them both a lot.
