I just wanted to add, and Ariesrising said it too, there are probably hundreds of student organizations adn clubs on your campus, so check your schools website and see what is offered. Most schools will also let you start your own club provided you have enough people.

There are a lot of fun musical ensembles to be involved in too, and they are easy A's . I'm involved in:
Marching band (this is my third year as drum major)
Choir
Basketball Band
Jazz Band
Wind Ensemble
Orchestra
Some marching bands and basketballs bands offer small scholarships for just being a member. At Elon, every member of the marching band receives $250, and $500 for basketball band. It's pretty cool, because it's almost like a paying gig

I've done quite a bit on campus. However, I'd also be quick to add that NOTHING has come close to my experience with greek life. Too bad it's not a requirment
I was involved in Circle K, the UCO Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Opera Orchestra, played in a band that won the UCO battle of the bands (fiddle).
Also was involved in Student Government, served in a leadership position in the student senate, was an anchor and reporter for the TV Station. Also, I was involved in PRSSA.
But nothing even comes close to Sigma Nu. Not even remotely.
Since I've graduated, I've had little/nothing to do with people from any of those other groups. But with Sigma Nu, I have a lifelong committment, and so far have been making good on it through my service and my money.
I could talk about things like brotherhood, etc.. and I don't want to sound like I'm "talking down" to Potential Rushees here. However, if you haven't experienced it, you just wouldn't understand.

I agree with what many others have said on here about the wonders of other organizations and the wonders of greek life... Now the activities I was involved in:
Society of Physics Students
Northern Arizona Astronomy Association
Alpha Lambda Delta - Freshman Honor Society
Gamma Beta Phi honor and service society
Golden Key Honor Society
Mortar Board Senior Honor Society
Order of Omega
I also worked at the US geological Survey... and must add that trying to get work in your field of interest through the school or outside is also a rewarding part of a college experience...

I must reiterate the fabulous experiences that being in Alpha Delta Pi have given me. I wouldn't trade any of it for the world. But I must also say that the experiences that I had in college while participating in other organizations were in some ways just as fabulous. You can't compare Greek organizations to others---they are totally different. By being involved in other organizations, I was prepared for leadership offices in ADPi, and I was able to experience things that I probably would never have experienced. For example, by being a part of the Baptist Campus Ministries, I was able to travel to many places that I may have never gone to (Oklahoma City, Philadelphia, etc.), and I was able to use my singing talent in so many ways with this organizations' ministry. And that's just one example!! So don't forget about the other organizations on your campus. Being a part of other organizations, besides Greek, just makes you all the more well-rounded, great for resumes and fabulous life experiences!!!

Might I add that it's good PR to have sisters in other organizations on campus.

At my GDI undergrad school, I was involved with the following:
Conversation partner for students learning English as a Second/Foreign Language
Jazz choir
Various talent shows
Swing dancing
Candlelighting (it doesn't really exist anymore. It used to be a ceremony that welcomed female students to campus. It's now held around International Women's Day in March. I was in it in first year, but left when they changed it to March in the middle of second year because it was changing the entire tradition. Not something I was happy with. I was also mad when they suggested that the girls can wear whatever they want. I think this sort of service requires at least a business casual environment.)

I was always amazed at how many different organizations sisters participated in outside of the sorority, it's really great for presence on campus (and in the community!!) and to add diversity to a group!
As an undergraduate, I was involved in:
~ University Wind Ensemble
~ Beta Beta Beta Biology Honour Society (founder & VP)
~ Phi Kappa Phi Honour Society
~ Golden Key International Honour Society
~ University Honours Program
~ Greek Council
~ And I did my senior thesis research in a neuroscience lab
Outside of campus, I was involved in:
~ Church Music Ensemble
~ Volunteer for Girl Scouts

Absolutely! One of the chairs in our chapter made sure that each sister was involved in at least two other organizations on campus! I couldn't even name ALL the organizations that we found ourselves involved in, but I know that I (without it being "required") participated in:
* Habitat for Humanity (also served on the exec committee and went on a Collegiate Challenge during spring break)
* Kappa Delta Pi (education honors society) - served as membership chair for a year and a half, and noticed MANY NPC and IFC members as part of our organization!
* Alpha Lambda Delta
* Union Board committees (student union organizational council)
* Freshman Pilot chair
* Gospel choir
* and a few others that are not coming to mind right now (my brain's not functioning this morning!)
College, in addition to preparing you for your "career", prepares you for life by introducing you to people who will potentially become networking buddies and "best friends" that teach you about who you are as an individual. Each organization that you become a part of prepares you to become the person you are "destined" to be. I encourage any of you who are still completing your college degree to get out there and find (or create) an organization that interests you and you can contribute to its goal!

I agree with everyone here. GET INVOLVED!!!! It will make college so much better. By getting involved in student orgs, I learned so much and made so many friends, but it also helped me realize what I wanted that was missing from them, that I could only find in my sorority - community service, scholarship opportunities (just got a $2500 one for grad school), and lasting female friendships. Not to mention that joining greek life opened me up to the whole student affairs field which is now my chosen future. go greek life.
it really is more than just parties....hell, i partied more with my student newspaper than i ever did with the sorority. hahah.
Undergrad:
Delta Zeta
Order of Omega
student newspaper (it was my life for 4 years, held almost every position, and went to 4 newspaper conferences!!!)
radio station
yearbook
GLBTQ support group/ally program
resident assistant
university theatre
All-Greek Council
Panhellenic Council
Vagina Monologues
Dance Marathon
photo darkroom assistant
PACE/remedial English tutor
Spanish Tutor
Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute
Grad:
Graduate Student Association
student newspaper
Leadership Consultant/webmaster
Judicial board
Delta Zeta alumni group
member of NASPA & AFA - tow professional orgs in my field
hoping to get into the counseling honor society and would love to join a campus community service group this semester
grad assistant (sorta)
New Student Leadership Retreat Facilitator
Future Greek Leaders speaker and I'm in charge of planning for the spring
FYI: Delta Zeta has a 100% involvement part of our programming nationally. each member must be involved in at least one non-greek organization on campus. I fully support this! as i obviously loved being involved
