So....recruitment started two days ago! I'll bet you are on some house tours and learning about philanthropies right about now!

I just wanted to say best wishes to gemma494949 and to piphibabyangel!
Today is the TOUGHEST day of parties at Cornell--it's either 8 or 9 houses today for the PNMs, and the sororities themselves have more parties than that! Just a random tip, if you find your feet are in excruciating pain from parties and heels, I LOVE the Dr. Scholl's squishy gel inserts....amazing.

I saw the current weather on weather.com is 11, "feels like -2!" Good ol' Ithaca...

Stay warm and good luck to the both of you!

Cornell has been my very favorite college campus since we visited the East Coast and Ivy League schools for my brother. I love the old architecture and it is such a big grandiose campus. How is the recruitment going? Good Luck in the frigid temperatures.

Awww I love the campus too (and miss it)!

Except when you have to walk up and down hills through slush and snow, on icy paths...

But the pink and white magnolias (yeah, apparently they grow all the way up there) in spring make it all worth it!

The chapters read their lists to the members around 5:30 (at least my chapter did at that time), and I believe bid night festivities are commencing or are happening right now!
Anxiously awaiting news from gemma494949... hope all went well and that you are enjoying tonight with your new sisters. Keep us updated!

Alpha Phi took 45 also!

Quota is usually 35-40. I'm assuming it went up to ~45 this year after AOII's closing
45 (assuming this is quota) X 11 (# of chapters) = 495 women placed (assuming every chapter met this hypothetical quota)

We usually have over or around 500 women going through recruitment, with usually between 400 and 500 being placed. I wouldn't be surprised if quota was actually 45 (but this is just my thought process informing an educated guess). Those are some pretty big NM classes for Cornell! And make the chapters bigger than they have been in a few years!

Recruitment was GREAT! I loved everything about it. All of the houses were so excited and so were all of the PNMs. Thanks for the advice on the clothing - it made a difference - at least in terms of my confidence. Because this is all so new, I don't want o say which sorority I joined, but I had a "perfect" rush and was not cut from any house I pref'd. It was ridiculously cold but now I am having a great time getting to know my new sisters! GC was a great resource for me!! Thank you everyone!

Congratulations, Gemma! Can't wait to hear which house you call home -- when you're ready to share, of course.

Stay warm!!

I'm so excited for you, Gemma! And congratulations!

I'm glad that some of the advice here helped you. And I hope that you found my sisters to be hospitable I checked the Cornell live view today and saw the fresh snow... and that they hadn't shoveled Ho Plaza, as usual, ughhh.
