22 year old freshman seeking advice

I'm 22 years old, will be 23 in November, and have never been to college before. I have no excuse such as military. I simply wasn't ready back then. I likely would've failed if I had tried, and was nowhere near fraternity material back then anyway. I was immature, yet mature enough to know it. However, I've changed a lot in the past four years and I now fully realize a college degree is required to live the life I want to live.

I'm going to a university in Louisiana (my home state). It's not LSU, it's a little bit smaller, though still an urban campus. I've done a bit of research, and I would really like to join a fraternity. I'm just a little nervous/afraid I'd be excluded due to my age/lack of experience. I realize nobody can give me a definite answer, and I will sign up for recruitment no matter what. I would just like to have some idea of what I should expect.

Not to sound entirely too cliche, but if this is what you think is best for you, and you believe that you can contribute to the organization then you shouldn't feel awkward at all.

22 isn't that bad, but some people may judge you for it. Any Fraternity that refuses to give you a bid because you are older is not the Fraternity you want to be in.

If it's not LSU, I don't think age will be a huge issue. From what my friends tell me, rush at UNO, Tulane, and Loyola are not even remotely like LSU rush.

I think you'll be find, but maybe someone with firsthand knowledge would be of more help.

That's still a young age. I believe I started when I was 22 and the thought of being too old never occurred to me.

Guess this is supposed to be funny?

A question asked?
Why not answer with a sober and actual answer instead of being a smart mouth?

Do you actually know who this person is or it is one of your guesses?

Some of you people are very funny!

Why not learn how to read before spouting off at the mouth?

He obviously wasn't talking to the OP, dumbass.

What, no translation? (I blame the move. It's bummed you out, for sure. Hang in there!)

This sentence will make philosophers weep.

Yes, MysticCat. Why NOT answer the question that no one asked except yourself? And try and dumb it down a bit.

I, however, have cleverly concealed my identity. No one can figure out who I am.

You are so funny that, despite being banned from not one, but TWO message boards, I made my own* and STILL return to this one.

*Earp message board may be made of fail and is possibly one of the saddest sites on the internet at this time.
