Hey AOX81!

I graduated from the University of Richmond. The school is 3000 undergrads----exactly 1,500 girls and 1,500 boys. Which makes each class approx. 400 girls and 400 boys.

Greek life is HUGE. We have 6 sororities and maybe about 8 or 9 frats. I don't remember. We've lost 3 or 4 over the last few years.

We have 4 nights of recruitment. The first night, there are TONS of girls to talk to, but by the 4th night, that number is much lower. It really isn't that bad, since it's all we know. Each party is between 45minutes to 1 hour.

I don't know what else you'd want to know but I'd be happy to answer any questions! Either post them or email me!

Every girl would get a bid with our system. But some won't settle for anything less than their 1st choice so they drop out. IF they were to accept a bid from any of the 6 sororities, EVERY girl could be matched. (at least, that's what I've been told). But it doesn't work that way.

It's pathetic...10% men, 2% women, 2% co-eds.

I just wanted to clarify Ceres is not local we are International and we are not just for ag majors. Our chapter is mostly ag majors but only "an appreciation of agriculture or the rural lifestyle it represents" is needed. Hopefully in the future we will have more non-ag majors for more diversity. It is sad that on our own campus people don't really understand who we are.

I wasnt trying to be insulting, when I dated a guy in FH that was what I was told by a member of Ceres (that they were for Ag majors) I didn't know they were international, though, mainly because I looked for a forum for Ceres and not finding one I thought that meant you were local. I am truly sorry if I offended you... I certainly wasn't trying to.

back when I was in college--Greek Life was HUGE with 13 sororities and something like 25 fraternities with each house 80 to 120 members.

Our Rush was SCARY! 4 Conversation days--you visited each house twice for those one on one conversations with the actives, 1 skit day, 2 "house days" where we gave tours of the house, and preference.

Generally about 1,000 women rushed each year.

While I have asked repeatedly to list your schools to let us know where you are at , IT seems many are not proud of their schools let along their chapters. My State U is a tough campus, but if not for the GREEKS there would be little done. We have @ 6100 students. If your not proud of your school or F/S then look else where or be someone who tries to change things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cool

There are about 40,000 undergrads at UBC (University of British Columbia) and about 700-800 in our greek system. Pretty sad.

University of Ottawa has about 25,000 undergrads but is only about .6% greek. Anyone else see a pattern with Canadian schools?

My school has under 2,000 students. There are 9 Fraternities and 5 sororities. Only about 25% of the students are in GLO's. However, freshmen as of now can't rush so that number basically reflects the percentage of upper classmen who are in GLO's. Still not a very big number.

At the University of West Georgia we have 9,000 students - 65% female, 35% male, with a minority population of 25%.
We have 8 NIC frats, 6 NPC sororities, and 4 NPHC frats/sorors. Approx. 14% of men and 16% of women are Greek -- the average chapter size is 48 for NIC fraternities, 65 for NPC sororities, and 8 for NPHC frats/sorors. The largest fraternity has 76 and the smallest has 17; the largest sorority has 77 and the smallest 59; and for the NPHC the largest frat/soror has 9/11, and the smallest has 6/8.
I've never understood why a school with a 65% female population does not have more sororities...we've got another fraternity scheduled to colonize next fall, and have had 3 fraternities colonize within the last 2-3 years.

#1 Greek Campus In the US!
2300 Students
7 Sororities
12 Fraternities
80% of campus is Greek. People are kind of outcasts if they aren't in a house. It's ridiculous at times. Rush is brutal.
