Fraternity hosts date auction to benefit Big Brothers and Big Sisters

About 25 men will participate in a date auction by performing onstage to raise money for their fraternity.

The auction features performances by each individual who the audience can bid on. Each man will take his bidder on a preplanned date.

Justin Glasgow, the fraternity’s external vice president, said most of the dates will include dinner, with additional plans up to the men’s discretion.

The event’s master of ceremonies, business management senior Marcus Raven, said the performances could range from singing and dancing to comedies and movie reenactments.

Raven will announce the date package and the individual’s name and then will open the floor for bidding either before or after the student’s performance, depending on its content, he said.

White said he worked with business junior John Bielawswier to plan a double date where the two will rent a plane flown by Bielawswier, a licensed pilot, for an aerial tour of Arlington and dinner at The Cheesecake Factory.

The $1 entry fee enters attendees into a drawing for prizes such as oil changes, hotel rooms and shampoos.

“We are definitely catering to women,” Raven said.

For every $5 paid by the winning bidder, a ticket will be added to the drawing in their name, Glasgow said.
