Am I a Legacy?

So my brother is Greek, but he hasn't graduated yet and he's taking a break from school right now to work. Also, since he's a guy and in a fraternity, does that or does that not make me a legacy when rushing a sorority. If not, will the fact that my brother is Greek even be considered?

A legacy is someone who has a family connection to a specific GLO. All female GLOs spell out what relation that can be but it is usually either daughter, grandaughter, or sister. Some include steps, aunts, etc but it is GLO specific. So you would need be the daughter, grand or sister at least of a GLO member. Your brother's, father's, uncle's, other male relative's membership is not considered other than the fact that you may have a little more knowledge about the Greek system than someone who has no family member in one. So, no, it doesn't count for much if anything at all.

And your brother's sons, should he have any, would be legacies to his specific group only.

But, seeing as he is greek, he may know girls in sororities who could help you find recommendations, and how could give you rush tips.
