So like, at any given time, about 1% of the flea population is composed of adult fleas, while 99% remain in the invisible egg, larval, and pupal stages. So she was loaded with them based on that. That’s what I mean by loaded. It was pretty bad.
Yes, Sentinel is great, because it not only controls fleas, but it also protects against heartworms, ascarids, hookworms, and whipworms.

Holy shit! 2,000 eggs? That’s nasty as hell. You’re not worried you’ll take some home?

Well, the eggs eventually fall off. It’s the adult fleas and flea feces that were all over the place, not the eggs. I was just saying with that many, they’ve been living on that cat for a very long time. Plus, there’s an infestation going on in the owner’s home. Has to be.
No, I don’t worry about taking any home from work. We’re clean.
You’re not going to bring fleas home from the vet, but you can bring them home from outside. They can jump and hitch a ride on people pretty easily.

We may end up with image hosting / the ability of posting images directly on GC (without needing any other image hosting sites involved) relatively soon.
I already have the new server & have been working on it. Figuring out how I'd like to setup the hosting infrastructure, how to best optimize things, etc.
Also have been considering various other forum type software as well.

Image converter sites probably don't keep the converted images permanently. That might explain if you had posted an image from a converter site, then the image would disappear here if the converter site deletes images after a period of time.
There are image hosting sites that will retain pics permanently or at least maybe for a long time.

I'm not aware of the current software used here being able to copy/paste an image file directly within the message editing area.
If you want you can start a new thread to test out the different ways you've tried posting pics to see if you can figure that out. Or maybe even just use this thread to test out posting images.
Probably not neccessary to spend too much time figuring that out as the software here will change not too long from now. Then there might be a new or better way of posting images available.

40-45 minutes? That’s nearly an hour drive (doing the speed limit). When I moved from Wixom to Novi, I used to make it to East Lansing from Novi in a tad bit over an hour, every time I made the trip, which was almost daily. And, I was doing the speed limit. When I lived in Wixom, it’d take me 15-20… 25 minutes max just to get to the Lodge.
Wixom is less than 10-minutes from Novi. So Google maps is saying Wixom to Detroit is only 15-minutes less of a drive than Novi is to Lansing/East Lansing? That doesn’t make any sense.

Not that much over. About 5-10 over. I’ll admit, I speed on the freeway, but I do the speed limit on the streets/city areas.

When I put in "Detroit", it probably goes to downtown- but the Lodge is at the north western corner of the D. It took longer to get to CCS.

I’m sure you’re right, AGDee. You’re much more familiar with the cities there than I am. I just can’t remember the two drives being that close together in proximity/driving time, even all the way to CCS. Novi to East Lansing and back felt like it took much longer. Wow.

That’d be awesome, John! When you say “various other forum type software”, what’s that mean? What do you mean by that?

So, when the software changes, what will happen? Is it something we’ll notice? I totally understand if I’m asking too many questions, and you’d rather not say right now. I’m just really curious, that’s all.

WIFLSRN: I woke up to a missed call and several “We’re worried” texts from my best friends. I overslept our Saturday “coffee get together” this morning.
I woke up at like almost 11 this morning. That is SO not like me. I must’ve been really, really tired. But I slept SO well last night that when I woke up, for a few seconds, I didn’t know where I was, lol. When I woke up, the house was way too quiet. I also woke up to a text that my family went to the mall, and didn’t want to wake me because when they tried, I mumbled… “Viral disease… stage one, stage two”.. lol. Oh dear God, I was talking in my sleep.

Basically just the computer software that makes the GC website function the way it does. There's also a bunch of other software behind the scenes that's necessary for this to all work as well. But, for the most part, what you see on GC is the forum software part.
With forum software there's a number of options available, paid commercially developed software & free software. Even doing all the development myself is an option, and does sound like an interesting challenge, but I think would simply take way too much time. All the different forum software options to consider are similar in that they are for forums, but differ a bit in various ways.

Yes, it will definitely be noticeable. Everything will be similar enough so that using the new forum software will be familiar & easy to use.
When I'm at that stage of things I'll migrate a copy of the GC database over to the new software being considered. Then will open it up for testing to everyone who chipped-in to help support these efforts + moderators & anyone with GC premium memberships. Then if it all seems to be working out well after testing for a bit I'll switch the main GC site over to the new forum software system. It's possible that we may even end up testing more than one other forum software system to consider upgrading to.
I still have other things to work on before I get to that part, but generally that's the plan.

Lol WTH were you dreaming about that had you thinking about viral diseases with stages? You stayed up late?

This is a lot, lol. Very interesting but so much to take in. With so many different options, would you be able to modify forum software that’s for forums to your liking, instead of doing it yourself? I mean, just to save you time?

So, how would that work? - with the chipping in part. So like, people who chipped in would see kind of like a different interface, than those who didn’t chip in?
Do you remember way back when, when those who wanted premium membership, paid like $30 bucks or something like that? Is that the same thing you’re talking about when you say “premium memberships”? Oh God, that was so long ago, I can’t remember what came with it. I actually thought that expired, lol. Everything is like a blur to me now.

I have no idea. I don’t really remember. My husband told me when he tried to wake me up to go to the mall, I responded like I was going to go but at the same time I was talking about a virus and mentioned its stages? My kids thought I was dreaming about Covid, they told me. Hilarious! The only thing I can think of that’s common with stages is distemper, but I honestly don’t know what the heck I could have been thinking about.
I didn’t go to bed too late. Normal time I usually go, like 10? I sure did sleep a long time, though, lol.

Did you have a patient with that virus or something? What’s up with the stages? Sounds complex?

Hilarious!!!! You are terrible! I would NEVER… and I couldn’t if I tried to. No, I’m just trying to figure out how the changes are going to bring things back to how it once was when I first joined this site. That’s all. And I appreciate John for posting his plans for that.
Me? Start my own Greek Chat for Greek people? Do you know what that would look like? Like, seriously! lol

Distemper? No, not this past week, I didn’t.
It has stages because it takes a variety of forms.
