Inductions

Hey ya'll,

I know most induction ceremonies are kept very private, however, i'm looking for some advice to make ours a little bit more special, and add a hint of secretiveness and tradition, we are a young local and currently only do a banquet where we pin the new girls, and that's basically it.
Kinda boring

Incorporate symbols with meaning into the ceremony, or items including "sharing" and meaning behind growth and passing down traditions.

Initiation/Induction is a time when the new members learn about the secrets of your organizations. This ranges anywhere from handshakes and passwords to the meanings behind your symbols and a closed motto. They usually reaffirm what the organizations values are.

If you are planning on making a more elaborate ritual it should have the input of all the sisters in the organization. You can even ask the founders to come back and help you with it, if they have graduated.

Our organization is working on our rituals and it takes time. It's not something you will probably be able to accomplish in one semester. As a newer organization you may start with one set of values, but as you get deeper into the sisterhood another set may become evident as well that you need to incorporate.

we haven't really started writing our rituals yet, so i completely understand looking for ideas!

candles are always nice to incorporate... the flame representing the eternal bond of sisterhood or anything that fits with your org. it might be nice to get your founders to write a message to be read to all girls being initiated so they will always be involved in the initiation process and make the girls feel a greater sense of tradition. you could even make it an over-night event like a lock in where the girls decorate their first paddle or create a piece of art as a group to decorate the chapter house. You could have a giant canvas showing all the families in your org and make part of your ritual be adding their name to the sorority's family tree.... there are tons of things you can do!

Also, you could take a look at some wiccan rituals online for ideas for wording and a little more theatrics, although i strongly suggest you never attempt casting a circle or including pagan imagery (many people could be offended).

Remember, your organization's rituals should be special and meaningful to your own values, so as long as there is not hazing or illegal activity involved you're free to do whatever you want!
