CU Boulder

Ok, I'm going to be a freshman at the CU boulder this year, move in tomorrow and am looking forward to rushing next month.

My question is: Are there any southern style fraternities on the boulder campus?

One that holds true to some of the traditions that are present in the south (aka croakies, sperrys, and costas). Coming from Texas, I would really like to know which frats are big and which ones are suffering at the boulder campus as I know pretty much nothing of the greek system there, as I may be transferring to UT after a year or two depending on a few things and would like to already be familiarized with some of the brotherhoods with a strong presence on both campuses.

I think that the best way to learn about the fraternities is to go into recruitment with an open mind, meet all of them and then make an informed, first hand decision that is in your best interest. Also, may I ask why a "southern style" fraternity? I think that you may be limiting yourself based on your preconceived ideas.

GOOD LUCK!

Un. Co. is not Greek Friendly at all and there is a big battle going on there!

The Fraternitys come and go and when they go, the Un gloms onto their houses! Property there is sparse being backed up to the East Range.

Let us know what happens.

I agree, but the reason I said southern style is because I feel those are the type I presume I would accompany to the most.
I plan on rushing with an open mind to all houses, being that I don't really know much about them yet.

So far I've heard good things about Kappa Sig and SAE at CU, but we'll see what happens next month.

Being from Texas, you're naturally going to want to find the southern style.

I don't know which ones fit that stereotype, but it certainly makes sense.

Overall, though, it's the bigness of the car that counts the most. Because when something bad happens in a really big car – accidentally speeding through the middle of a gang of unruly young people who have been taunting you in a drive-in restaurant, for instance – it happens very far away – way out at the end of your fenders. It's like a civil war in Africa; you know, it doesn't really concern you too much. - P.J. O'Rourke

I have a feeling that a chapter's "style" has more to do with their campus location than their national organization. Chapters will have a different feel from campus to campus and state to state. AB chapter of XYZ in Texas may be "southern" but CD chapter of same XYZ fraternity in Colorado may be more "northern". This is why you need to try them all out before making a decision.
