My advice is to pick up the Rachael Ray cookbooks. Yeah, her personality is grating, but I've learnt SO much from watching 30 minute meals and using her recipes. Seriously, I'm going to donate my collection of books to my boyfriend who needs to learn to cook good healthy food for himself.

Through Rachael, I've learned proper knife techniques ie. how not to cut off a finger, little things about treating produce, what herbs and spices produce what flavour and go with different dishes, all that good stuff. Get yourself a couple of books and you will not regret it.

I recommend-a good few knives, start building up your spice rack now and watch 30 minute meals. I used to suck at cooking but then I got addicted to the Food Network and absorbed a lot just from watching. Now I'm pretty damn good in the kitchen. The other day I made amazing chicken fajitas and I winged the whole thing. No recipe at all. They came out perfectly. I impressed myself.

On a different note: the song, Beautiful Girls. Sean Kingston is totally wearing a jacket that says SK on it. It made me lol a little.

And I found a beautiful pin (again!) on ebay that I really wanted. All pearls, Epsilon chapter, '26. I couldn't afford to buy it though so I just sent the link to Julia. Next time I have money and find a pin that beautiful, I may try and swoop it up. Is it wrong to wear a deceased member's pin if it's better than your own?

Drolefille: hope your grandma is doing better.

As to a long ER visit, I was stuck 3 hrs last summer with my older brother, who in a rare attempt at cooking at home, cut two fingers badly. I guess that he was still breathing led to his being a non-priority.

Yesterday, after squashing/slicing my big left toe while opening my front door, I ended up in the ER. I got there at 5:50 p.m., and 1 person was waiting for care, so I got right in. By the time I left a half hour later, the waiting room was full, with some people left standing. People obviously came in when they got off work.

Today, I am looking at my toe which looks like a sock puppet, with a bow. The nurse tied the ends of gauze into a bow, I'll let it be my summer fashion statement. My toe hurts, I have to pack, but at least I'm not still sitting in the ER.

Sorry...but who are you exactly? Are you a sister somewhere? A PNM? A PNAM?

I got annoyed with Porkfriedrice. I wanted the name when I wanted the food. Then I stopped craving it. Now I have a badass name. Just be glad it's not a legal change. Well, sort of.

So... can you turn into a liquid mercury-esque substance and sneak into places getting into all sorts of wacky trouble?

Also can I, in the bonds of sisterly love, call you Al? Or will that get me smacked?

I'm too scared to look at my GPA.

In other news, my family found out today that my dad has a tumor on his tonsil. It is cancerous, has not spread, and he doesn't need chemo, they think. He's meeting with the surgeon this week, but it should be just a removal and six weeks of radiation. My mom isn't taking it well :-/
