Question Advice/Info on Graduate BGLO's

Hi,

I need some advice.

My university has 8 of the 9 BGLO's. I want to join one, but I want to wait until I am in graduate school (which will not be at the same university that I am attending now). There are many reasons why I have chosen to be patient and wait. None of them involve bad grades, a bad attitude/image or lack of involvement (for those quick to point the finger)

Are there a lot of graduate chapters out there? Are they the same as Alumni chapters?

Is the intake process even more selective then the undergrad level?
Do graduate chapters haze (NOTE *I am NOT looking into graduate chapters for an easier ride into greekdom, I realize that if you want something, you have to work for it)

I know there are a lot of questions but I picked this forum because it reaches a lot of people nationwide. I just wanted to know what people thought before I go any further into this.

any information or feedback would be greatly appreciated

thanks!

GC

Sigma Gamma Rho sorority, Inc. does not haze on the undergraduate or the graduate level. We are very selective on both undergrad and grad. We admit only dynamic, intelligent, hard-working, service oriented individuals. If you're graduating soon you need to locate a graduate chapter and try to get to know some of the members of the chapter now. Graduate chapters don't usually advertise rushes like undergraduate. Your decision to seek interest in grad chapter instead of undergrad is your business. I have many sorors who became members through grad chapter because that was what best suited their lifestyle and needs.

------
and yes it took
4 times to get it right.

I cannot tell from your post whether you are a man or a woman, so I don't know if you are interested in a fraternity or a sorority. I think one thing you could do is go to: http://www.nphc.org

All of the 9 BGLO's have links off of here, and each will likely have a blurb about joining if you are a grad student, or at least something about membership.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority website says:
Alumnae:
If you have earned a bachelor's degree and are interested in becoming a member of Delta in an alumnae chapter, you will be invited (via direct mail or the media from the local chapter) to attend a Rush Party where pertinent information, such as the qualifications, cost, selection process, etc. will be shared.
An individual meeting all requirements and qualifications must then be approved by chapter vote to complete the selection process.

Alpha Kappa Alpha says:
Graduate Affiliation:
Unlike membership on an undergraduate level, the procedures for graduate membership differ. Graduate chapters do not accept letters of interest. Membership is by invitation only.

Alpha Phi Alpha discusses membership here:http://www.apa1906.org/brothers_process1.htm

I won't post for all 9 groups, as this would make this post very long, but that might be one way to do the initial research/exploration.
Good Luck and I hope that it works out for you.
