Favorite part of rush?
Hi everyone . I was just wondering what everyone's favorite part of rush is. Can be Rushers or Rushees. Thanks so much!

I loved the "frills!" Singing, chanting, skits, decorations, food, etc.

Greeting your new sisters on Bid Day. That is the entire purpose of recruitment and everything- all the prep of both PNMs and sisters, all the decorations, the food and the parties- just leads up to it.

My favorite part of rush is when the parties are done for the day and the clean up begins. We turn up the music and dance around our space as we clean up. That relaxation and sense of a job well done is amazing.

*Before parties. I loved getting pumped up for the parties by playing Fall Out Boy.
*Meeting alot of new people. I love talking to the girls and finding out the different activities they were involved in and fun stuff they'd done over the summer.
*After the 3rd round (the night before prefs), we all got a chance to go get into pj's and get popcorn prior to meeting at the house. It just made the whole evening go ALOT faster when we were all comfortable, not cranky and still in our party outfits.
*BID NIGHT. It's ALL OVER, and you get to wear your letters while screaming your cheers at the top of your lungs while waiting for your new members.

As a sister--when your sorority gets its returns. It's so wonderful when everyone is screaming and jumping up and down--"We got so-and-so! And her roommate!"

As a collegiate: meeting so many great women, and singing seriously corny rush songs!
As an alumna: BID MATCHING!!!! There is no high so wonderful as the ever so politely said, "Match!" when you really want to spike the whole table of Advisors over getting the PNM you really, really wanted!

NO, the BEST part of BM is saying after you're only in round 1 of alphabet of first list and only gotten to last name starting with T - "XYZ Sorority is now CLOSED". THAT is such a high - no drug could replace that. Happened to me once at a school in PA when I was a Chapter Consultant. Nobody at the table could believe it - every girl matched on first bid list. I'm sure there were some snarky comments later tho!

As an advisor....Bid Matching is my favorite. Hearing the "silent" announcement of making quota and not having to stay for snap bidding makes your heart jump.
As a collegian....I loved rush in general! I loved meeting the women, the preparation, getting to be with your sisters, and everything else! No wonder I do what I do!

The roller skating nights! Or any activity night really. Our recruitment is basically a week long of COBs. So we go a little crazy at least once during the week.
A couple semesters ago, we went to this place with a bunch of bounce houses and inflatable obstacle courses. SOOOO much fun... even for someone who was 3 years out of college.

On both sides...
Having rushed during the last half of the 1970's, I would have to say all the beer.

I truly love anything and everything involved with recruitment. I loved it as a collegian, I loved it as Chapter Adviser, and I love it as an alumna. Yes, that includes cleaning silver, emergency cheesecake runs when returns are higher than anyone could possibly dream , bid matching, making sure the house is shining and ready, and so on. My newest recruitment love is volunteering at bid signing through our local alumnae PH.
Yes, I'm a recruitment nerd. Someone has to be!

I always looked forward to the anticipation of seeing who the new members are on Bid Day. It definitely made up for an entire week of talking and singing until we were all hoarse and staying up til 2 every morning perfecting skits.
