That is weird, but more important, congratulations to you on a successful recruitment! I was hoping you'd have a happy ending!

I know Panhellenic has strict rules when it comes to family/friends being at bid opening, but she must have slipped under the radar. When hundreds of girls crowd into a relatively small space, it's hard to tell who is a PNM and who is not. And I guess my sorority was just being polite?

Thank you so much! I was just thrilled when I opened my bid card. I love my new sisters already and I'm so proud of my letters!

Did you mean to put this in another thread?

(I was hoping for another weird rush story, haha.)

No. I was complaining that it is recruitment season and no stories.

It seems to work best when a few years have lapsed since when the weird PNM came through.

I'll give you one ...

I was going thru Rush and at the Theta house. Toward the end of the party, I was sitting in the front -- in the first chair of the room -- so I had my back to all the other PNMs. The members (& I got paired with a university cheerleader!) all stood up to sing a Theta song. I stood up too out of respect (like it was the national anthem or something). After the song, the members started escorting the PNMs out of the party. I looked around and I WAS THE ONLY PNM STANDING! All the other PNMs were sitting during the song. I felt like an idiot.

So, I was the weird PNM ... &, oddly, didn't go back to Theta. lol

Oh that is so sad. And so sweet and thoughtful of you that you stood out of respect.

Here's a mild one-a PNM who was rude was booted from recruitment mid-party during one round. Apparently Panhel found out she had made derogatory remarks about a chapter and escorted her out before informing her that she could not continue with formal recruitment. I have a feeling there's more to the story than just that one offense, but I was impressed that it happened nonetheless.

^This reminds me. During rush this year (at a school I won't name) a young woman went through and met with various sororities. She then took to Twitter to make fun of one chapter as she said something along the lines of, "One of _____ ideals are beauty. Did anyone tell the members of ____ that?" She was making fun of a chapter and decided to put it on social media as she was going through recruitment. She was then pulled from recruitment. It wasn't my organization she was making fun of but, I thought, "Good. In the spirit of all things Panhellenic, she doesn't deserve to join one of the many great NPCs on this campus."

It goes along the lines that if you can't say anything nice, don't say it at all.

Oh my. Wonder what she was hoping to accomplish... But then again is definitely doesn't sound like she is someone that would think of consequences of not thinking before she speaks.
