Another Soror asked me this same question a few weeks ago. I knew I should have written them down. Here are a few off the top of my head.

1. Hot Dog Sale
2. Car Wash
3. Silent Auction (Have local businesses or campus organizations donate goods or services)
4. Candy or Balloon (or both) Grams
5. Bake Sales (don't laugh, they work)
6. Dinner sales (be sure to take orders in advance so you'll have enough food)
7. Talent/Fashion Show (you can ask for a canned good donation as a discount to admission)

That's all I've got right now. If I think of more, I'll post them.

Hey all!!
I'm not a member but here is my input.
The Delta's on my campus had a Delta's Chicken n' Waffles sale. It had a great turn out. They had waffle irons and deep friers. Everything was made to order. They also had lemonade and homemade peach cobbler. It was a smashing success.

Cool

When I was in school, we had:

fashion shows
raffles (to raise money for habitat for humanity)
lotto tree (students pay for a chance to have their name drawn to win x number of lottery scratch-off tickets)
parties
Crimson & Cream Ball (sort of a prom type affair, a change from just a regular party)

MsCC: Can you recall anything else we did? You know it's been a while!

SisterInChrist,
It's good that you posted! Sometimes we've done so much that everything runs together. The true measure of a successful fundraiser (aside from the $$) is how many people remember it and had a good time. Thanks!!

I'm not a Delta but I am one of the officers of my criminal justice association, National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice, Akron/Canton affiliate. We have fundraisers as well, but our most productive fundraiser has been our raffle ticket sales. Last year, we had a 50/50 raffle. We sold approximately $1500 worth of tickets. We made a profit of $750 for our affiliate. This year, we made a profit of approximately $450.

We're also planning other fundraisers such as a car wash and a cabaret. I thought I'd share that, even though I'm not a Delta.

Here's one that will raise funds and cover a thrust...a walk-a-thon. When planned well it's a BIG CHUNK of change. Our chapter raised $1200 in April. If you need tips on how to plan it email me.

Since I've just been elected as a fundraising chairperson for my chapter, I'm looking for any and all input as well.

Soror Imperial, you may want to check out the Fundraising board for a few more ideas.

My chapter has put on dances, bus trips to Atlantic City, sold greeting cards and recently sponsored a step show all to raise money.

I know I'm piggybacking off of Director here, but Walk-a-thons are GREAT, especially if they're publicized properly. I got so pumped up over a walk for literacy at school last year, I went out and raised $100 in two days. Its fun, fairly easy, and it lets contributors feel involved, rather than just handing over money.

The ideas here are great...I also checked out http://www.fundraising.com/ and http://www.fundraising-ideas.com/ for more ideas.

If anyone has information about coordinating the Walk-A-Thon, please PM me...I am interested in learning more about it.

Thanks
