I can speak for URI as I went there and was the Recruitment Adviser for my chapter for three years (through 2004). I have never seen a rec at this school, even for legacies, and I have never heard them mentioned by other chapters, advisers of other sororities, or anyone else. So I really think you can take your time on that one.

Thank you for the update on URI. I wasn't sure how competitive this school was on rush.

Are RIFS really required at all of these universities? Let me clearly state I am not trying to re-neg on my duties, but Alabama wants theirs by July 1 and I was wondering if I could wait until after that date for the above schools. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

ETSU is not cut-throat with regard to RIFs. They are very helpful and much appreciated, though. Especially for the chapters who will be releasing heavily early in the process due to RFM. The sororities represented at ETSU are Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Xi Delta, Kappa Delta, and Sigma Kappa.
Recruitment is at the very beginning of September, but the chapters usually have summer recruitment retreats at the very beginning of August, and it would be helpful to have any RIFs at that time so that the members will be as informed as possible about your PNMs.
Please feel free to PM me if you need any more information or details!

Alabama is expecting a large number of PNMs this recruitment season. Chapter totals have been raised. References are an absolute necessity at the Univ. of Alabama.

I would say that out of all of those schools, your Bama recs would be the priority. There are tons of PNMs rushing and it's pretty competitive.

Thanks to everyone for the information. I knew that the BAMA ones would be a priority and absolutely necessary. My daughter is a Jr. in HS and is looking at BAMA and I attended Ole Miss so I know these schools are an absolute necessity. Thanks again to everyone......

Despite being in the midwest, Kansas is pretty competitive and recs are needed there for a good recruitment. I don't know when they expect them, though.

You could go to each school's Web site and link to Greek Affairs - or something similar - and find out when each school's recruitment starts. You probably know that the chapter needs it well before.
BTW, Auburn starts recruitment even before Alabama, so if any of those requests are for Auburn you'll definitely need to get them in as close to July 1 as possible.

I would definitely suggest a recommendation for Chi Omega at KU. The Lambda chapter is excellent.
