Monogram Necklaces?

Hello everyone. My daughter was born and raised in N. California and will be attending college in the South (deciding between 2 right now). She is definitely interested in pledging a Sorority, and is obsessing over all things Southern and Preppy! My question is, do college girls in the South wear those monogram necklaces that I have seen around? There is currently a Groupon for one, and I was thinking about getting one for her. Being a personalized item, it obviously could not be returned, so I wanted to see if this was a popular item for the southern sorority types. I see lots of monograms on bags, clothing, etc. but not sure about the necklace. Thanks!

At Clemson those items are very popular, but I would make sure that your daughter will like it before getting it.

Yes! Those are extremely popular. The acrylic kind are huge with sororities. They come in a huge variety of colors. I went to Georgia Southern and currently am at Georgia State and these are a huge hit with sororities. In fact, I want one myself. Link posted below.

Thank you, especially for the info on the acrylic kind - hadn't seen those before and they are so cute! Would you say most girls prefer the block style or more ornate calligraphy style?

Glad to hear they are popular at Clemson as that is one of my daughter's top choice schools!

I think the calligraphy style (typically Vine Monogram font) are the prettiest. Also, if you're really thinking of investing in one, and you know she'll wear it, I personally would go with a metal one. Gold or silver. It looks classier, to me, than the acrylic ones.

I have only seen the metal ones around here (at a big southern school) on necklaces. The acrylic ones I have seen are on key chains or back packs pulls.

I am also in a southern town- they gold and silver calligraphy style is very popular here.
