"Darwin Award" for hazing contest!
OK, after reading the tri-Phi disaster thread - I came up with an idea (yeah, yeah, yeah, it happens only so often, so give me a break!)
Here's my idea: we've all seen the "Darwin Awards" given to the individual(s) who most uniquely or creatively remove themselves from the gene pool, right?
We need a Greek equivalent - and award for chapters that so brazenly and in a blazing flash of stupidity remove themselves from Greek Life.
So, I'm offering a contest to name this award. No cash prizes, no trips, drinks, etc....but, you will have the distinction of having the credit for the award's name attributed to you.
List them here, then we'll see who the winner is. Rules for determining the winner are still being formulated, but will likely consist of PM'ing me with your votes when the time comes.
Until then, get creative, and let's have some fun with this otherwise tragic issue.

How about the Sisyphus Awards... or the Sissies for short?
Sisyphus was an ancient Roman who was punished by the gods for his sinful ways and forced to roll a rock up a mountain every day for all eternity.

Be nice to think of a historical (or hysterical) Greek instead of a Roman.

I luv the Darwin awards
I always enjoy reading the Darwin Awards - it's a cute gimmick that gets attention.
We need a great name for the GLO Darwins, although I don't know what it should be.
I checked a Greek-English www site, and tried a few possibilities:
stupid = ilithios, blakas
suicide = aftoktonia
ass = gaidaros
butt = bareli, bytio, stochos, perigelos, akri, syndeo, synarmologo, stirizo
elementary = stoicheiodis, basikos
pledge = enechyro, desmefsi, enechyriazo, desmevo
dead = nekros
Maybe it could be "Ilithios Award" or maybe we could find the Greek for 'dumb' and combine it with 'Gaidaros'
If you can come up with a catchy name, I think the local and campus newspapers would jump on the story:
"The State U chapter of XYZ fraternity has been awarded the Nekros Gaidaros Award (Greek for dead ass) by the Greek Chat Forum for the month of March. XYZ earned the award after three pledges were found naked and handcuffed in the girls locker room after a Thomas Earp High School basketball game.
"The award, in the hallowed tradition of the Darwin Awards and the Golden Fleece Award, seeks to shine the light of intelligence on fraternity chapters which need it."

STOP THE PRESSES!!!!!!!!!!!
I mis-spoke. I said Sisyphus was a Roman legend. It is also a Greek legend! He was the king of Corinth, a city of ancient Greece, and punished by the interchangeable Roman/Greek gods.
Sisyphus (SIS-i-fus) King of Corinth, condemned in Tartarus to an eternity of rolling a boulder uphill then watching it roll back down again.
I second my vote for the "Sissies"!!!!!
I also think the myth is appropriate-- the Greeks deserving of this award go to great lengths to do big things (the wrong things!) and watch their reputation (and ours, unfortunately) take 1 step forward... and 20 steps back!
Go Sissies Go
