Famous Snakes
I'm sure this has been done, but I thought I'd do an updated version.
Everyone knows the old schoolers:
Harrison Ford
Bob Barker
Al Michaels
James Dean (yes, I realize he never was initiated)
But here are some that I only recently learned were Snakes:
Paul Rudd (Nu / Kansas) - Best known from Anchorman, The 40 Year Old Virgin, and Clueless. Brian Fantana: No, she gets a special cologne... It's called Sex Panther by Odeon. It's illegal in nine countries... Yep, it's made with bits of real panther, so you know it's good.
Josh Saviano (Beta Alpha / Yale) - Paul Pfeiffer from Wonder years!
William Daniels (Gamma Beta / Northwestern) - They main teacher guy from Boy Meets World (also the voice of Kitt in Night Rider).
Joe Buck (Beta Eta / Indiana) - Fox Sports. Google him, you'll recognize him.
Eli Manning (Epsilon Xi / Ol' Miss) - Giants...
Chip Arndt - Amazing Race 4 Winner. Best known as being the ex-husband of Reichen Lehmkuhl (who is the dude that Lance Bass came outta the closet with).

The Tom Coburn thing is wrong... he's actually currently in the Senate but he's a former House of Representatives member.

One of the lawyers in the suite next door to mine is his pledge brother.
I'm a big fan of what Coburn has done in the Senate. I'm not a huge fan of his social stances, but no one is perfect. Bob Anthony, one of his primary opponents is also a Sigma Nu. In Oklahoma, we had a 3-way race for the Republican Senate seat. Two of those candidates were Sigma Nus.

I remember reading somewhere that Lott led the charge in defeating a proposal in Grand Chapter to admit blacks. Wonderful role model.

Here is the article from Time Magazine (a partner of CNN)
http://www.time.com/time/nation/arti...399310,00.html
The early 60s were a bad time in our nation and a bad time in Sigma Nu. There was debates raging that came to a head at Grand Chapter.
Keep in mind when reading this article that Tom Johnson is the President of CNN and the article is clearly leaning to favoring the side of the story told by Johnson himself.
The next time you discuss something within the confinds of your Chapter meetings or at Grand Chapter remember that what happens in our meetings is for Sigma Nu ears only and transcrips should only be issued from the Chapter or the Grand Councils as the official stance of the Fraternity.
Clearly Brother Johnson (Mu, University of Georgia) forgot what he pledged to his brothers in Sigma Nu. It is a shame that he brought this up at a time when the Liberal Left needed a boost and bashing Strom Thurman and Trent Lott, over decisions they made when they were young and neive, seemed like the right thing to do for the President of the Liberals strongest Media outlet. He could have not said anything at all and Sigma Nus name would have not been dragged through the dirt.

Uh oh, out comes the "L Word". Isn't saying "Liberal Left" redundant?
I agree that the original controversy that lead to that story was blown way out of proportion, but it also contradicts the defense you just used about Lott being "young and naive" at the time. Since he publicly stated that he believes the country would be better if Thurmond had won the presidency, he obviously still supports the segregationist platform he ran on. I mean, Strom Thurmond is the guy who filibustered the Civil Rights Act.
At any rate, this is the wrong place to have this discussion, and all it will do is generate strife amongst brothers at this point.
